The Governorship Candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Oyo State, Hon. Kunle Olatunji KTJ, has felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 66th Independence Anniversary, expressing confidence that the years ahead will bring renewed hope, economic recovery and national rebirth.
Olatunji, in his Independence Day message, acknowledged the difficult and turbulent periods Nigeria has experienced since attaining independence from British colonial rule, noting that prolonged political and economic challenges have had significant consequences on the lives and livelihoods of citizens.
He, however, observed that despite Nigeria’s vast natural resources, rich cultural heritage and resilient, vibrant and resourceful human capital, the nation has yet to fully realise its enormous potential.
According to him, recent developments arising from the transformative economic reforms being undertaken by the present administration are beginning to show positive signs, but much more needs to be done to ensure that the benefits of such reforms translate into improved living conditions for ordinary Nigerians.
Olatunji stressed the need for greater commitment by leaders at all levels to remain focused on impactful economic reforms while demonstrating empathy and responsiveness to the difficulties and pressures that may accompany major reforms.
He appealed to the current leadership of the country not to take the resilience and patience of Nigerians for granted, stressing the urgent need to accelerate the implementation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda towards achieving sustainable economic growth, development and shared prosperity.
He said: “Nigeria can do much better. What is required is focused, visionary and intentional leadership that understands the pains and aspirations of the people and is prepared to take decisive steps towards creating opportunities, strengthening the economy and improving the quality of life of citizens.”
Olatunji further emphasised that sustainable national development requires a combination of purposeful leadership and constructive engagement with the resilient and resourceful Nigerian people, whose strength, support and faith in the country must not be betrayed.
He noted that as the nation approaches another general election cycle, the Independence anniversary should also provide an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the kind of leadership required to move the country forward.
He therefore urged citizens to remain committed to democratic participation and to support leaders with the capacity, competence, vision and integrity to harness Nigeria’s enormous potentials and deliver meaningful economic and political progress.
Olatunji congratulated Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the 66th Independence Anniversary, praying for greater unity, peace, prosperity and sustainable development for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Signed:
Hon. Kunle Olatunji KTJ
